A few days ago, I met a young lady who is intent on fixing her finances. She is seeing what she could be versus where she is currently at and has made the decision – enough is enough! What I found very interesting is her occupation. She manages budgets! That right, we both laughed when she shared that she manages budgets for her employer and she does not manage her own at home. It really hit home when she said, “I manage other people’s money and I have no emotional connection to that money.”
She hit it out of the ballpark with that statement. We all have an emotional connection to our money and without the proper management of that emotional connection we sail of course and often very quickly.
That emotional connection, again – that we all have, is what get you in trouble, what keeps you stressed, what keeps you broke, and what allows you to buy the new outfit with the electric payment!
To get ahead, to build wealth and be what you want to be – requires you to manage your emotional connection.
Do you recognize your emotional connection to money? How do you manage it?
Excellent article Parkey and so true.
