Today is the day! April 24, 2015 – the day we proclaim freedom from taxes. Well, not quite that but it is the day on which we claim the typical American has worked to pay for all the taxes they owe and the rest of the year’s earned money is all for the one who earned it.
Wikipedia defines this day as, ” the first day of the year in which a nation as a whole has theoretically earned enough income to pay its taxes.
Look at that, the end of April. I can remember when it was much earlier than this, but here we are today! In 1900 it was reported to have been on January 22nd!
CNS News reported that Americans will pay a total tax bill, federal, state and local taxes that total around $4.85 trillion in taxes or 31% of the national income. They went on to report that this year, 2015, is the longest year when we work for 43 days before freedom day.
Almost on third of your work goes to paying taxes this year.
