The elections are over and, really, already under way for the next election. Many are licking their wounds and many are enjoying their victory. One big theme in the elections again this year is the economy. How do we get this thing up and moving? One simple answer – confidence.
Regardless of what politicians say about corporations, our economy is based on the confidence of the American consumer. When the consumer is confident he or she spends money. When they are not, they do not. Corporations can produce all they want to, but when this nation of consumers are not confident corporations will have large stockpiles of inventory.
Confidence? Now? Our country continues to amass billions of dollars in debt each month and the consumer, the infomed consumer, is to feel confident? I don’t think so.
When government gets in tune with their spending problems and makes the tough choices to turn things around, that is when you will see consumer confidence begin to rise and the economy begin to take off. We are over $16,000,000,000,000 in debt and adding more every day.
How confident are you?
