Being a parent brings on responsibility. Ready or not, when your children are born, you are now responsible for their welfare and success. If you are a parent, you know what I mean. It is a situation that reoccurs with each child that is born. You have a responsibility for their life.
You work hard to provide. You teach them to look both ways before they cross the street. You teach them to not talk to strangers. As they get older, you make sure they hang around only the right people. You do so much to make sure that they will be safe and successful in life. But what are you teaching them about finances? How are you preparing them to be successful in life financially? Are you being the example that they need to learn what and how to manage their finances.
Regularly I hear from people, “my parents never showed me how to manage money”. Sadly, many learned even though they thought they were not leaving. Good or bad, children learn from us as parents.
What are you teaching your children about managing money? Will they be successful when on their own? Why is it important?
- Position them to live a life of Financial Peace – Many parents cringe at the thought of their children winding up in a similar financial situation that they find themselves in today. Parents have the potential to equip their children to be successful managers of their finances and to build wealth from their income. Teach them to live on a plan.
- The ability to be Responsible and Not being Dependant – Being responsible with money in this country today is not real common. With the availability of debt and the awesome marketing/advertising of retailers, we are a society that is consumed with consuming. We have to have it all and all the time. Teach your child to manage their money, build wealth, and not to be dependent on the others to pay their way.
- Pass on the Knowledge!! – What if you taught your children and equipped them to teach others – especially their children? What if your family’s future was changed because you taught, in word and in practice, how to manage money soundly? Generations can change from one small step heading in the proper direction. Teaching your children now will enable them to successfully teach their children in the future.
What are your children learning and are they equipped for their future?
