{"id":258,"date":"2010-06-30T10:56:19","date_gmt":"2010-06-30T10:56:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.myfinancialfocus.net\/mainsite\/?p=258"},"modified":"2025-08-24T06:39:13","modified_gmt":"2025-08-24T10:39:13","slug":"iphone-or-not","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.myfinancialfocus.net\/mainsite\/index.php\/iphone-or-not\/","title":{"rendered":"iPhone, or Not???"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last Sunday, after all the massive lines had disappeared, I made my way to the local Apple Store. \u00a0I wanted to see and touch the new iPhone 4 and get a feel for what it was like. \u00a0To say the least, I was hooked. \u00a0It is sleek and functional. \u00a0I really liked the Facetime ability and can see where that would be useable if the other person has the same phone. \u00a0The camera(s) are nice.<\/p>\n<p>Later in the evening I talked to my friend. \u00a0He is an Apple guy from way on back. \u00a0Just recently, he was able to obtain the iPad for development work that he will be doing. \u00a0I mentioned to him that I was hooked on the new iPhone and what he said has had me thinking since then.<\/p>\n<p>Big O, as I will refer to him, said he was sticking with the iPad and going back to a small phone. \u00a0 The iPad did all he needed and, with the right case, is easy to carry. \u00a0After he said that, I began to think about what I would do. \u00a0Quite frankly, I am not sure what direction to pursue. \u00a0What will I gain and what will I lose?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Phone &#8211; with the iPad only, I would not have a smart phone. \u00a0The biggest drawback I can think of is texting. \u00a0I do not like the idea of a normal keyboard and texting. \u00a0With a small or dumb phone, I can still call but all my contacts (in their current form) would be on the iPad. \u00a0It is nice to only update contacts in one place.<\/li>\n<li>Camera &#8211; No camera on the iPad. \u00a0The camera, and video, on the new iPhone is pretty impressive compared to my old 3G iPhone. \u00a0If I need a camera, I guess I would have to \u00a0be carrying one as most of the small phone cameras, to my knowledge, to not offer the same quality as the iPhone.<\/li>\n<li>Apps &#8211; No real drawback here. \u00a0While not immediate, most apps will run on the iPad and iPhone.<\/li>\n<li>Access &#8211; The iPhone will allow me access from just about anywhere with my 3G\/4G coverage. \u00a0With the iPad, unless I want to pay for the continued 3G access, I am limited to access at a hotspot. \u00a0When the iPad 4G comes out the current will be out of date??<\/li>\n<li>Visibility &#8211; The bigger iPad screen is definitely attractive. \u00a0However, the new iPhone screen is very clear and crisp, but small.<\/li>\n<li>Functionality &#8211; It appears, like with the apps, most of things I would use on my Macbook are also available on both the iPhone and the iPad. \u00a0Not sure this is important. \u00a0Multitasking is something that has been needed for a long time and is now there on the iPhone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Apple has now made it hard to decide. \u00a0Cost set aside, the pros and cons are too close.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know what to do. \u00a0What advise to you have?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last Sunday, after all the massive lines had disappeared, I made my way to the local Apple Store. \u00a0I wanted to see and touch the new iPhone 4 and get a feel for what it was like. \u00a0To say the least, I was hooked. \u00a0It is sleek and functional. \u00a0I really liked the Facetime ability [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-258","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/product\/yoast-seo-wordpress\/ -->\n<title>iPhone, or Not???
