{"id":201,"date":"2011-04-13T10:45:45","date_gmt":"2011-04-13T14:45:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.myfinancialfocus.net\/mainsite\/?p=201"},"modified":"2025-08-24T06:39:05","modified_gmt":"2025-08-24T10:39:05","slug":"the-misconception","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.myfinancialfocus.net\/mainsite\/index.php\/the-misconception\/","title":{"rendered":"The Misconception (repost)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>I originally posted this blog in the spring of 2010. \u00a0Events over the last couple of weeks have convinced me that it is still true&#8230;..<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Daily I meet people who want to change their financial lives. \u00a0They desire to get out of the bondage of debt, quit living paycheck to paycheck or want some peace in their relationships. \u00a0They really desire to make the change that will bring relief.<\/p>\n<p>Working with these same people, couples and individuals alike, has brought me to this conclusion over the last five plus years &#8211; so many want the change, but they are not willing to make the change.<\/p>\n<p>Weight loss, physical fitness or other areas require us to change if we plan on achieving the goals or changes we desire. \u00a0You can not desire to lose 30 pounds and still maintain the same calorie intake. \u00a0You can not expect to complete the marathon of you do not condition yourself to run in it.<\/p>\n<p>Finances are no different. \u00a0People want to change their path, but they are not willing to change what they are doing. \u00a0Things like shopping habits, abilities to purchase whatever and whenever, eating out frequently, obtaining the latest toys and gadgets, giving to keep up with other family members &#8211; the list goes on and on. \u00a0To make the changes we desire, we need to make the changes that work.<\/p>\n<p>So many possess the misconceived notion that if I think it, it will happen &#8211; regardless of whether I personally change my habits. \u00a0It does not work.<\/p>\n<p>Change will only come about with change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I originally posted this blog in the spring of 2010. \u00a0Events over the last couple of weeks have convinced me that it is still true&#8230;..
