Last night the Republicans rode what was being called “a wave” to now control the US Senate beginning in January. \u00a0It is the first time in two legislative sessions that both houses of the Congress were controlled by the same party. \u00a0The last time both houses were controlled the Democrats were able to make a huge change in the lives of everyone in this country by passing Obamacare. \u00a0This morning I wake up to a new US Senator-elect. While I was not a huge supporter I did vote for him. \u00a0Pleasantly surprised, this morning I hear him saying he wants to lead the debate in the new senate on reforming the tax code. \u00a0It is about time! Is it time for a new tax code?<\/p>\n
Have you ever looked at the US Tax Code and tried to make sense of it? \u00a0Pages upon pages of legal twisting and loop holes make it almost impossible for the average person to comply and follow. \u00a0As taxpayers we are constantly looking for the right path to make sure we pay no more than we have to, but all that we have to. \u00a0Why does it have to be so hard? \u00a0Why do people dread April 15? \u00a0Why do so may extend there deadline until October?<\/p>\n
It is too burdensome.<\/p>\n
I am just writing about the personal side. \u00a0The whole situation is amplified with the corporate mess that is required to be followed.<\/p>\n
Have you ever looked at the fair tax? \u00a0It is a very interesting solution that seems very easy to follow, viable, and not punitive to any one economic class.<\/p>\n
Some of the most successful and prosperous states in our union are those who have no personal state tax. \u00a0I wonder how that can be? Could a simpler, fairer, tax code be what is needed to jumpstart our economy?<\/p>\n
What are your thoughts? \u00a0Keep what we have? \u00a0Make more changes and add more lines of code?
