{"id":1789,"date":"2014-07-18T09:22:17","date_gmt":"2014-07-18T13:22:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.myfinancialfocus.net\/mainsite\/?p=1789"},"modified":"2025-08-24T06:38:43","modified_gmt":"2025-08-24T10:38:43","slug":"regrets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.myfinancialfocus.net\/mainsite\/index.php\/regrets\/","title":{"rendered":"Regrets&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This past Sunday a young man brought a message at my church that was entitled, The Reality of Regrets. In a humorous, yet very serious way, he shared what many have suffered as a result of regrets.<\/p>\n<p>Today, I was listening to the radio as I pulled into the parking lot of a place where I was to speak about managing money and what my business does to help people. \u00a0As I was parking, the radio announcer shared the results of a recent survey or older Americans about regrets. \u00a0As he pointed out, the older people get the more they begin to look to the past and wish that they had mdd better choices. \u00a0After all, life is full of the choices we make.<\/p>\n<p>As I returned to the office, a client had sent me an email with the link to this same survey. \u00a0The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/nation\/2014\/07\/15\/aging-survey-second-chances\/11892081\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">survey, actually reported by USA Today<\/a>, shared what those older Americans now had regrets about and, secondly, what they were optimistic about as they age.<\/p>\n<p>I am thinking, since I had three &#8220;hits&#8221; on regrets, that I should write this blog about regrets.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, here is a few of the responses that were shared about regrets from respondents in the survey:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>45% &#8211; say they wish they had saved more money<\/li>\n<li>31% &#8211; say they wish they had\u00a0made better investments<\/li>\n<li>21% &#8211; \u00a0say they wish they had\u00a0stayed closer to family<\/li>\n<li>15% &#8211; \u00a0say they wish they had\u00a0worked longer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The good news is that they are still around to take advantage making changes in each one of these areas. \u00a0The bad news is there is nothing they can go back to do differently since we can not go backwards.<\/p>\n<p>Are you one of those who today are making choices that fill you with regret as you get later in life? \u00a0Are you living for today, knowing the future is coming, but not making the right choices to put you on the right path?<\/p>\n<p>Today is the day to change your direction. \u00a0It may be financial and it may not be, but the only way to get to where you want to be is to set your course today.<\/p>\n<p>Where do you want to be and are you on the right course to keep from having &#8220;regrets&#8221;?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leave a comment by clicking below.<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>(You may need to click on the link and go to my website, but leave a comment of encouragement for others)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This past Sunday a young man brought a message at my church that was entitled, The Reality of Regrets.
