{"id":1640,"date":"2014-02-06T09:17:36","date_gmt":"2014-02-06T14:17:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.myfinancialfocus.net\/mainsite\/?p=1640"},"modified":"2025-08-24T06:38:46","modified_gmt":"2025-08-24T10:38:46","slug":"government-cant-control-everything","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.myfinancialfocus.net\/mainsite\/index.php\/government-cant-control-everything\/","title":{"rendered":"Who Is To Blame?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I know they want to and are trying to convince you they can, but the government cannot control every aspect of life. \u00a0Last week, we in Atlanta went through a MAJOR snowstorm. \u00a0Well, really 2-3 inches, but major for here. \u00a0For those of you familiar with the region, you know that even the talk of snow can, and often does, paralyze this city and region. \u00a0Last week was no different, but for some they want to cast a blame. \u00a0Sure, things could have been done differently but in every area there is one item missing from the discussion &#8211; human behavior.<\/p>\n<p>The government, again they want to, cannot control human behavior. \u00a0People are going to do what they wan to do. \u00a0The decision making process of you and me is something that will affect us going forward. \u00a0For every action, there is a reaction and, as we saw last week, that can be a painful reaction.<\/p>\n<p>Consider this. \u00a0Could adults have made better decisions? Yes, but lets not stop at the governor, or the mayor, or the road crews, or the meteorologists, or the school superintendents &#8211; everyone, and more than I have listed here, could have made better decisions. \u00a0But what about the personal behavior of everyone else &#8211; people decided to send their kids to school, they decided to go to work, they decided to disregard what they knew winter weather would do to the region who is not equipped to handle even the smallest amounts of winter weather. \u00a0They knew and they made a choice.<\/p>\n<p>It is no different in your financial life. \u00a0You are responsible for making the correct choices to move you forward in achieving the financial peace you desire. How do you make those choices?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Saving for your future &#8211; are you planning and working towards the changes, known or unknown, that are going to affect you down the road. \u00a0Things happen &#8211; are you prepared?<\/li>\n<li>Avoiding debt &#8211; are you avoiding all the opportunities to take on more debt while you aggressively work to eliminate what you have? Be aggressive and get rid of the sand bags of debt.<\/li>\n<li>Living within your wage &#8211; lay out a plan every month to manage the income you have. \u00a0Live by your plan! \u00a0Make the right choices!<\/li>\n<li>Setting the example to your children &#8211; what do your children learn from your financial choices?<\/li>\n<li>Avoiding the traps &#8211; Work together as a couple or, for the single person, with your accountability partner to make the right choices and avoid the pitfalls that often accompany our wrong choices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>See, we all make choices and there are definite repercussions to those choices we make. \u00a0Last weeks&#8217;s snowstorm showed us that everyone can make better choices and that we, hopefully, learn from the choices that we do make.
