We are all confronted with issues in this modern tech age we live in. While some would not call a debit card a “tech” tool, there are many using technology to get what they want from that card and, more directly, from your account. This little email blurb was sent to me from a friend and resource that I have sent several of you to for help.
I was victim of credit card skimming recently from using it at a gas station. I was not aware of this type crime until it happened to me. I was in Prosperity SC and the next day my credit card info was used in Indiana.
Take the time to do online Google search “credit card skimming” and be aware of it wherever you use your credit card. Another reason to use cash only!
I just wish people would use that ingenuity for good.
Look at the gas pump’s credit card slot, ATM machine , etc and be aware of anything out of ordinary. Take the time to look at other gas pumps, etc to see if anything looks out of place. Do not use the pump easiest to get to as that is one thieves may use to place their device. Or you may want to take the time to go inside the gas station store and have them run the card there instead of at the pump.
People working at restaurants are suspect as well as they take your credit card out of sight. Do not let anyone do so or say they “have to scan with another machine”.
Hope this helps you in future.
As he mentions here, another good reason to use cash. Be careful with your debit card!
